Dilemma

How do you explain 'stuff 'to a thirteen year old child?........ When my sister came up to me and asked me about all these i was shocked beyond words. For here i was thinking that she was still a baby and totally oblivious to all these. But apparently she was not that innocent after all.

Anybody reading this would be wondering what is so great about wanting to know these things?I am sure all the elder siblings had to go thru with this stage at some point.Maybe i am getting hyper but i really considered her her to be a kid! So naturally the shock, when she came up to me and asked me all these.I think at that precise point two type of emotions started conflicting inside me.
1:well at her age i knew what they meant. So my practical side wanted me to tell her what it meant.
2:while my being the elder sister prevented me from saying such things to her........wanted to protect her from the bad world i guess.

In the end i decided to go for a safe approach without being too preachy or too informative either....but somewhere down the line i realised that Kolkata has certainly changed a lot and kids these days are more bold then what we were at their age.I somehow still feel that there is a lot of difference between knowing things and knowing how to handle them. And she definitely has to know how to deal with these now!

I guess i just have to take it slow and easy with her!!!!!
